For many years, Virginia United Methodist Pensions, Inc. (VUMPI) has administered a wellness incentive program for clergy, lay employees and spouses who are enrolled in the Conference-sponsored health plans. That incentive program is intended to encourage health plan members to be active participants in their health through annual health screenings. While that program has been effective, VUMPI has identified opportunities for improvement and for greater participation in ways that are anticipated to lead to better health outcomes and a better experience for our health plan members.
VUMPI is excited to announce that a new health plan incentive program is being launched in 2026. The new Wellbeing Solutions program, which is administered by Anthem, provides the opportunity for health plan participants to earn up to $200 in rewards each year. Health plan participants who complete activities such as completing a health assessment, having an annual preventive wellness exam, and getting an annual flu shot will receive rewards that can be put toward electronic gift cards for select retailers including Amazon, Apple and Target, and others. This program will replace the legacy incentive program that has been administered in partnership with Health Advocate.
The launch of the new wellness incentive program represents several improvements over the legacy program. First, rewards will be received in real time, rather than participants having to wait until the following plan year to receive the benefits of participation. Second, the total potential annual reward, at $200, is greater than the value offered in the legacy program. Finally, the new program is intended to correct structural shortcomings of the legacy plan that may have limited participation and created participant confusion. One such improvement is that participants will no longer be required to ask their physician to complete and submit an extra form following an annual preventive wellness exam.
A brochure detailing the new Wellbeing Solutions program is attached. Beginning in 2026, clergy, lay employees and spouses enrolled in the Conference-sponsored health plans will be able to log into the Sydney Health app to review incentive activities, check reward status, and begin redeeming rewards.
Please note that all health plan participants who qualified for an incentive under the legacy wellness program during the 2025 plan year will receive that benefit in 2026.
